Major Announcements in Budget 2025

Agriculture and Rural Development

One of the significant announcements in the budget was the launch of the PM Dhan Dhyan Krishi Yojana, which aims to benefit 1.7 crore farmers. The scheme will focus on 100 districts with low yields, modern crop intensity, and below-average credit parameters to boost agricultural productivity.

Additionally, the Central government, in collaboration with state governments, will introduce a Rural Prosperity and Resilience Programme. This initiative will focus on youth, women, and farmers, addressing under-employment in agriculture through skilling, technology investment, and strengthening the rural economy. The aim is to create ample opportunities in rural areas, ensuring that migration remains a choice rather than a necessity.

Technology and Infrastructure

The government has announced a clean technology manufacturing mission to support the widespread use of advanced technology in industrial sectors. Furthermore, broadband connectivity will be extended to all government secondary schools and primary healthcare centres, ensuring improved digital access in education and healthcare.

Education and Research

To bolster the education sector, the government will launch the Bharatiya Bhasha Pushtak Scheme, which will make digital versions of Indian language books available for schools and higher education institutions. Additionally, five IITs will receive infrastructural enhancements, and IIT Patna will be expanded to accommodate more students and research opportunities.

Healthcare Initiatives

Recognizing the need for improved healthcare access, the budget proposes an expansion of medical education, with 10,000 additional seats in medical colleges and hospitals. Over the next five years, the government aims to increase the number of medical seats by 75,000.

Moreover, to strengthen cancer care facilities, the government will facilitate the establishment of daycare cancer centres in all district hospitals within the next three years.

The Union Budget 2025 lays out a strategic roadmap for India’s growth and development, with a strong focus on agriculture, rural employment, technology, education, and healthcare. With ambitious reforms and new schemes, the government aims to propel India toward a future of prosperity and self-reliance.
